Dr. Soltero founded Alte Biosciences in 2003. Previously, he was Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Development and Analytical Chemistry at Nobex Corporation where he led the teams for oral insulin (licensed to GSK in 2002). For the 5 years prior he was Vice President of Laboratory Operations at Magellan Laboratories and at AAI. Dr. Soltero has also managed R&D in ethical and OTC pharmaceutical companies. SmithKline Beecham Consumer Healthcare employed him as their Worldwide Head of Analytical, Microbiology and Stability R&D. At Johnson & Johnson he was Manager of Pharmaceutical Analysis where he conducted biotechnology research and was a leader of the Platelet Derived Growth Factor project (now on the market as Regranex). At Berlex Laboratories he managed the Analytical R&D laboratory and the Pharmacy R&D formulation development projects. The first company he joined was Ciba-Geigy, where for 14 years he held various positions of increasing responsibility from Formulation Technician to Senior Scientist/Supervisor in Biopharmaceutics and Preformulation Laboratories. He has over 45 scientific publications and presentations in the areas of biopharmaceutics, automation and protein product development, along with 15 patents and multiple invention disclosures in the areas of controlled release products oral protein formulations, recombinant protein processes and virtual manufacturing systems.
